Judi O'Kelley, LGBT Movement Veteran, Joins LGBT Bar

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  The National LGBT Bar Association (LGBT Bar) announces, effective November 15, the hire of Judi O'Kelley as Chief Program Officer.

Judi is the former Director of Leadership at Lambda Legal and comes to the Bar with years of experience in business and program development. Judi served in a number of roles at Lambda over the last eleven years. Before that, she served as the lead plaintiff in O'Kelley v Perdue, which sought to strike down Georgia's anti-marriage amendment. Judi spent her early legal career in private practice, including at LGBT Bar sponsor Jones Day. Judi has her B.A. from Colorado College and her J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law.

“Judi is the perfect addition to our team," said D’Arcy Kemnitz, executive director of the LGBT Bar. “Her knowledge of the legal field, law students, the LGBT community, and the intersection of the three will undoubtedly have a major impact on the way the Bar interacts with our partners and supporters. We cannot wait to see where she takes us in the coming months.”

Judi will play a large role in the planning and production of our 30th Annual Conference & Career Fair, Lavender Law, taking place on August 8-10, 2018, in New York City. She will also have primary responsibilities in working with law schools, affiliated bar associations, and our popular joint venture with NCLR, the LGBT Family Law Institute (FLI).
