Each year, the National LGBT Bar Association honors legal professionals who, in their position of leadership, have allied with the LGBT community and have made noteworthy contributions to the struggle for civil rights and equality before the law.

The LGBT Bar is proud to honor the 2014 Allies for Justice Awardees. These extraordinary men and women have been instrumental in ensuring that all people, and all families, receive equal justice under the law. Through their leadership and expertise, they have helped re-shape the law for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. Congratulations to this year’s honorees:

  • Attorney General Martha Coakley, Ally in Government
  • President James Silkenat, Ally in the ABA
  • Attorney Judith Sperling-Newton, Ally in Small Practice
  • Professor Laurence Tribe, Ally in the Academy

The Allies for Justice Awards will be presented on Friday, August 8 at the ABA’s Annual Meeting at the Sheraton Boston, Liberty Ballroom C from 6:30pm – 8:30pm/
