Dustin Helmer

Dustin is a 3L at Golden Gate University School of Law and is Bay Area born and raised. Before going to law school, he received a BA in Criminal Justice from San Francisco State University and worked for an AmeriCorps program, JusticeCorps, where he helped pro per litigants with their family and civil law issues. During law school, Dustin clerked for the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office and for the Chief Federal Magistrate for the Northern District of California. In February, Dustin competed in the national Williams Institute Moot Court competition which focuses on LGBT and gender/sex-related issues. He is currently clerking at the AIDS Legal Referral Panel helping clients who are living with HIV or AIDS with all types of civil cases. Dustin also serves as the Law Student Representative for BALIF, the local gay bar association. Dustin wants to practice criminal prosecution in one of the local District Attorney’s office, but for the time being, he hopes to find a (paying) job after taking the bar next summer.   Contact the Northwest Region Chair
