Bernadette Harrigan is an AVP & Counsel in MassMutual’s Law Dep’t. She joined the company’s Dispute Resolution Division in 2007. Bernadette handles national class actions and other litigation matters for Mass Mutual. She also provides pre-litigation counseling, legal training and works on various special projects for the company. She has been a practicing trial attorney since 1989, and is admitted to practice in Massachusetts, New York and Connecticut. Bernadette is a founding/active member and past chairperson of PRIDE: MassMutual’s LGBTA Employee Resource Group. She actively participates in MassMutual’s Pro Bono program. Bernadette is on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts LGBTQ Bar Association, the statewide organization that promotes and supports LGBTQ legal professionals in Massachusetts. She is an active member of the Massachusetts, Hampden County, Hampshire County and Women’s Bar Associations. She was a past president of the Western Mass LGBT Political Alliance, a non-partisan organization that was formed to promote and secure full civil rights for lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, and transgender people. And in 2003-2004 she worked extensively with MassEquality and the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force on the effort to secure equal marriage rights for same sex couples in Massachusetts.
