Elizabeth Davis

Elizabeth B. Davis is a partner in the Atlanta office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP and is a member of the firm’s Environmental Department and the Food, Drug and Device Law Practice Group. Ms. Davis focuses her practice on environmental and product liability matters.

As a former assistant regional counsel with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 4, Ms. Davis has experience with regulatory compliance, permitting, enforcement defense and litigation. She counsels clients and litigates in virtually all aspects of federal and state laws related to hazardous waste, underground storage tanks, water, air, pesticides, toxic substances and occupational safety and health. Ms. Davis also has experience with the environmental aspects of corporate and real estate transactions, occupational safety and health compliance, and zoning and land use issues.

Ms. Davis provides a broad spectrum of support to her business clients. She helps food, drug, medical device and consumer product manufacturers and distributors navigate their way through the myriad U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) requirements in the marketplace. She counsels clients in virtually all stages of product development, government registration and approval, advertising, imports, labeling, reporting and recordkeeping, packaging, distribution, government inspections, internal investigations, recalls, interactions with the FDA and CPSC, and product liability litigation.

Active in the legal community, Ms. Davis is a member of the American Bar Association’s Section of Environment, Energy and Resources (SEER), Litigation Section, and SEER Special Committee on Science and Technology; International Association of Defense Counsel; and the State Bar of Georgia’s Environmental Law Section. She is also a member of the Diversity Law Institute; Trial Law Institute; Stonewall Bar Association of Georgia; National LGBT Bar Association; and serves on Lambda Legal’s National Leadership Council. She is also a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and the chair of the board of directors of Suzi Bass Awards.

Ms. Davis is an AV Preeminent-rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, and has been named a top-rated lawyer in energy, environmental and natural resources law by Corporate Counsel and The American Lawyer Magazine. She also has been recognized by Georgia Trend Magazine as a Legal Elite.

After graduating with a B.A., cum laude, from Agnes Scott College in 1985, Ms. Davis earned her J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1989.
