Concerns around data privacy, cyber security, hybrid IT, and automation are making global legal challenges more complex than ever. Many companies use or process personal information in more ways than before while automation and the Internet of Things are expanding the types of IT products and services purchased by many types of companies. Amid all the complexity, it is essential for today’s in-house counsel to understand how these risks impact a corporate client’s business operations and then translate the analysis into actionable advice that helps a company’s executive to make informed decisions. Edward Willey III, Senior Counsel with Hewlett Packard Enterprise, will present a practical approach to evaluating complex risks in today’s dynamic and disruptive technology space.

Presentation by Seyfarth Shaw LLP

Businesses everywhere are using design thinking to solve problems, generate new ideas and launch businesses. The design thinking technique can be incredibly useful for corporate counsel as well. We continue our tradition of providing hands-on, interactive practical learning during the Corporate Counsel Institute. We want you to bring a problem you are working on in your legal department and we will select a few issues and use them to teach design thinking techniques. For instance, if you are struggling with contract review, managing outside counsel guidelines, reducing overall cost or any other problem, we will use our time together to learn these new skills to develop solution that make a difference.
